典型错误

※She has (an，the) ability of doing it.

※The horse has the ability to carry three sacks of grain.

※She shows considerable ability at organization.

※The girl shows remarkable ability for mathematics.

1.ability 可指体力也可指脑力，后面通常接动词不定式，或介词 in，for 等，一般不接 of doing sth.。例如：

She has ability to do it.

She has an ability to do it.

She has the ability to do it.

这几句都意为：“她有能力做这件事。”

但第一句话最不普通。

2.ability 表示的是人的能力，不可用于其他动物或无生命的东西。例如：

不可说：※The horse has the ability to carry three sacks of grain.

应该说：The horse can carry three sacks of grain.这匹马能驮三袋粮食。
