用法
afford to do sth.是动词afford+不定式to do sth.结构，常常接在can，could，be able to之后。其主语一般是人，表示“有能力做某事;担负得起(……的费用、损失、后果);抽得出(时间);买得起某物”之意。如果指某人无法承受某种代价，则用cannot afford to do sth.来表达。例如：
① Nobody can afford to waste time and money.
没人浪费得起时间和金钱。
② A few years ago，lots of people couldn't afford to buy houses.= A few years ago，lots of people didn't have enough money to buy houses.
