In the design of offshore structures, current is generally considered time-invariant represented by its mean value. The current strength, however, may have a variation with water depth. The current introduces a varying pressure distribution around a member of the offshore structure generating a steady drag force on the structure in the direction of flow. Since the pressure distribution is not symmetric about the direction of flow, a transverse force is also generated on the structural member.
If a two-dimensional structure is placed in a uniform flow, then the force experienced by the structure will depend on the fluid density, the flow velocity and the frontal area of the structure encounterin ...... (共5015字) [阅读本文]>>
