保证金

释义：

为降低风险，担保人要求被担保人提供的现金，用于应付违约时发生的代偿。如未产生担保责任，担保责任解除时，保证金应退还被担保人。

A sum of money pledged by an obligor to a guarantor serving as protection against the obligor's default. If the obligor does default on its obligation towards an obligee， and the guarantor has to step in and settle the claim from the obligee， the obligor forfeits the money pledged as collateral， with the guarantor then becoming its owner; the money will be returned to the obligor when its obligation towards the obligee has been fully performed and the guarantor's duty has been relieved.
