Insect Fauna of Mt. Shiwandashan Area of Guangxi

Abstract

Mt. Shiwandashan is located in Guangxi，south of China. The whole mountain stretches from southwestto northeast，across the longitude from 107°25′to 108°20′ east and latitude from 21°38′to 22°10′ north. It isthe southest range in mainland China. Its highest altitude is 1 462m，and it lies to the northeast of Yunnan-Guizhou plateau. Because it also lies to the south of tropic of centre and faces to South China Sea，its cli-mate is warm and humid，and vegetation is lush and various. All these result in the rich biological diversityin this region，especially in insects. Therefore，the Chinese Academy of Sciences proposed and organized theproject： Fauna of Mt.
